First of all, you should realise that barking is a common thing. As humans talk - dogs bark. Dog barking can be very helpful like when they're warning you of threat. Furthermore, a few breeds are more susceptible to barking. The issue arises for human beings when barking becomes abnormal.

Why does abnormal barking take place? A few possible causes include:

  • The dog is fed up.
  • It gets anxious.
  • It is distressed.
  • It has been trained, usually unexpectedly, to bark.
  • Boredom would probably be the basic cause. This is usually developed energy that your dog has because of lack of exercise or insufficient friendly interaction. They've no other option of expelling this surplus energy, so they choose to bark the whole day at almost everything they see.
  • Dogs that can't see perfectly or those who have hair growing on their eyes are susceptible to barking. They generally calm down when they recognise the perceived danger.

Tips to control excessive dog barking

Start using a command for example, DON'T BARK or ENOUGH and reward him once the dog quiets barking. Use a solid but not shouting voice because yelling can seem like screaming and make the case more intense as you're barking likewise! Show your dog that you actually need it when he is calm. Just yelling NO can appear to be a barking voice and make your dog a lot more anxious and barky!

With a bored barker, you can consider taking the dog in the house. Take them on long walks and pay extra attention. Go out in the backyard and play different games. Hide objects in the backyard and let the dog find them. Present your dog with a lot of playthings that are exciting and entertaining. You can find a multitude of tasks that you can consider but it all depends upon giving your dog more attention, more training, more exercise and more activity.

No dog is born being aware of all necessary commands. You need to instruct that every command has a reaction and if it’s done, positive things will come up. Positive inspiration is an incredible training technique! Be mindful not to unintentionally praise behaviours you do not require. Hugging and patting a barking dog can give your dog a sense that you truly enjoy what he is doing.

Do not ever forget that your dog is a sensible and living creature. You cannot just coop up a pet like that and assume that there will not be attitude problems. You can, on the other hand, instruct your dog to avoid excessive barking habit, if you pay attention to why he barks and react appropriately with efficient and positive training.
